Statement

I am highly interested and excited about studying graphic design at degree level where I wish to contribute and combine my different skills and explore them further in the design industry. I am looking forward to working in both groups and on single projects where I get to explore ideas and concepts.

I have included a few images from different parts of my creative ability including painting, photography and design. The first three images are a part of a self promotion brief I set myself, I produced a series of leaflets/handouts, posters and business cards to encourage people to view my portfolio and work. The design of these images were fueled by the mix of my typographical and mixed media interest.

The next image is a part of a portraiture brief where I gathered influence from artists such as Francis Bacon, I explored the element of movement and distress through my photography.

The Hull short film festival poster is a design for a film festival for 2010 where I explored typographical printing techniques.

My global warming and light pollution image is a developed image where I have played with multiple exposures, colour transparency film and digital manipulation. I was interested in light pollution and urban development.

The next designs were a part of a series of images advertising and displaying the opening of a gallery and a shop. This brief included designing posters wrapping paper and tags for display items. A booklet, carrier bag and further posters were also designed for this project.

The next two images are personal projects. Painting is an important part of quite a few of my designs, I like to involve different media to explore texture and quality of line. This also remains as my hobby which i enjoy doing, and gives a sense of self satisfaction with the ending results.

The last image is a portrait from my black and white darkroom prints.
